The daily payments report puts early-morning payments on the previous day
BILL-533: Daily payments report puts early-morning payments on the previous day
Component: Reports (support's guess)
From: Mia Torres, owner, Harbour Coffee Roasters (Sydney) · Received: Mon 19 Oct, 8:21 am (Sydney)
Hi, we reconcile our takings every morning against the daily payments report, and the days never match our till. The totals for a day are always short and the previous day is always a bit too high. When I go through the payments one by one, everything that came in between midnight and about 11 in the morning our time shows up under the day before. For example the 8:42 am payment on the 15th is counted on the 14th. Payments in the afternoon and evening are on the right day. We changed the organization timezone to Sydney when we signed up, and the setting does show Sydney, so I do not understand why the report ignores it. I attached what the report shows and our own list of payments with the time they actually came in, in Sydney time. Our accountant needs this sorted before the end of the quarter, because we also report for the weeks around the clock change in early October, and last year those were off by an hour as well.

Support note (Dana K.): Confirmed on Mia's account. Everything received from midnight to 11 am Sydney time shows under the previous date, which is exactly the Sydney offset. The report looks like it works in UTC. Quick idea: shift every payment by the organization's UTC offset (+11 for Sydney now) so we don't have to touch the query logic much. Not sure that is right for the weeks around the clock change Mia mentioned, and several of our customers are in places with half-hour offsets.

Symptom
The daily payments report assigns payments to the wrong day for organizations that are not on UTC: everything that came in between local midnight and the offset from UTC shows under the previous day.
Steps to reproduce
- Set the organization's timezone to Australia/Sydney.
- Record a payment received at 2026-10-14T21:42:00Z (that is 8:42 am on 15 October in Sydney).
- Open the daily payments report for 14 to 15 October.
Expected
The payment is listed on 15 October (the day it was received in the organization's timezone), also for payments received just before and just after local midnight, for half-hour timezones, and for days when the clocks change.
Actual
The payment is listed on 14 October (its UTC date).
Ask: make the daily report follow the organization's timezone, including the weeks when daylight saving starts or ends and for the start and end dates of the requested range. Organizations on UTC must see exactly what they see today.
